In our times, it's hard to differentiate who is talking on the name of God, under their own name, guided by their ignorance or even worse who is lying to gain favor from others.

That could be the reason why
janelle said...

"I think dreams/visions can also be simply for personal uplifting."

And many other people think the same way. They do not even share their dreams and are afraid to prophesy. Prophesy and tongue interpretation is very rare in churches.gmanonhttp://spiritualgod.wordpress.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-30858116.post-85197600641966427002009-06-09T19:47:31.221+00:002009-06-09T19:47:31.221+00:00"The prophetic makes me nervous".
I thi..."The prophetic makes me nervous".

I think you have got it spot on Janelle, and I wonder if that's the whole point! Why does it make us nervous? Because it IS by nature spontaneous? And we don't know or predict when and how it will come? God effectively is keeping us on our toes!

I love the verse in 1 Corinthians 14 where it speaks of if one person is prophesying and then someone else can actually stand up and interupt them! I don't know about you, but I've never heard that preached on! I wonder why?!

Can YOU imagine someone interupting someone prophesying at the prophecy mike!? ;) I couldn't! Yet Paul says that for a reason - that if a prophesy comes to someone else, while the first is speaking they should sit down and let the other speak!

I think next time Terry Virgo or Dave Devenish is prophesying at the Brighton conference, I might try putting that verse into practice and seeing how I get on!! ;)

Muahahahah .....

Yes - the prophetic makes me nervous too. But maybe that's a good thing! God doesn't like us getting into the status quo!Dan Bowenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15661120561123767936noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-30858116.post-42411679303020970482009-06-01T02:23:24.981+00:002009-06-01T02:23:24.981+00:00I think dreams/visions can also be simply for pers...I think dreams/visions can also be simply for personal uplifting. I often find that when I am under either emotional or spiritual duress that God will give me a dream to calm and comfort me. It's really awesome...it would be awesome to have more regular dreams like that, even the prophetic though for some reason that really makes me nervous. It's happened a couple of times to me, and I think the reason I get nervous is because it is so unpredictable! That God can not only speak through us prophetically when we are awake but also when we are asleep is so crazy and awesome and nerve wracking!janellehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03562513623973041847noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-30858116.post-69670083887631339652009-05-30T12:25:34.369+00:002009-05-30T12:25:34.369+00:00Awesome!
